Obviously shopped, I can tell because I have seen a lot of shops in my time and water doesn’t cast shadows like that on men

This is La Jument lighthouse off Ushant photographed by Jean Guichard in 1989. The keeper was interviewed in a BBC Coast programme a couple of weeks ago and presented with a signed copy of the photo by Guichard.
I have sailed past Jument many times in calmer weather, it is always very dramatic due to tides and currents.There is a lot of information on Google.
This is shopped. I can tell from the pixels and from having seen quite a few shops in my time.
Common, let’s sit there and drink a coffee, talk a littel, enjoy the weather and meditate, loooool!
@Tom, as Pennblogg says this is genuine! The keeper didn’t realise a huge wave was coming, I don’t think he’d be that stupid.

The keeper heard the helo and thought it was his relief which was late due to a storm but it was Guichard hoping for a good pic as this area is well known for dramatic scenes after bad weather.

@Seygantte I appreciate your visit to this site…but this is my site, and I post pictures I think are interesting. I apologize for not having seen every picture since Al Gore invented the Internet. If you don’t like how we do things here, then with all due respect, you go away.

Not photoshopped. he was told to leave but refused. he actually ended up losing his job after this for refusing to evacuate.
I wonder if he just smoked a fatty!?I can’t imagine.It would be a most excellent adventure!!!!!!

He was probably referring to the “it was photoshopped” people. If the picture is older than the internet, it’s certainly older than photoshop.
Obviously, both groups of people have completely ignored the real answer–Lava bears did it.
P.S. On a more serious note, is there a window at that height on the seaward side? If so, I wouldn’t be anywhere near that low (The water might break the window, then come crashing down on me.

I’m glad THAT’S settled, cuz it didn’t occur to me that it might be shopped, and I was wondering how in the world that kind of a vantage point was obtained to get the shot. Now I know. Amazing stuff.

I love how people say its definitely Photo-shopped hahaha the most famous Lighthouse photo ever taken and in 1989….a few years before Photoshop could do anything like this.
Shows that you can’t believe everything people say even when they say they are 100% sure of themselves.
One of those infamous storms on the Iroise Sea happened on 21 December 1989. A front of low pressure coming from Ireland brought gale force winds and huge waves of 20 to 30 metres high which crashed spectacularly against the lighthouse.
The waves smashed through the lower windows of the lighthouse, ripped the front door, flooded the tower and washed away the furniture. Lighthouse keeper Théodore Malgorn decided to take refuge up in the lantern room while waiting to be rescued.
About the same time, photographer Jean Guichard was in Lorient hiring a helicopter to take aerial pictures of the storm. Guichard wanted to fly over the Iroise Sea despite extremely dangerous flying conditions.
The helicopter made it to La Jument and hovered around for Guichard to take shots of the waves pounding the lighthouse. Inside the tower, Théodore Malgorn heard what he thought was his rescue helicopter and hurried downstairs to open the door.
At that very moment, a giant wave rose over the rear of the lighthouse and Guichard took his world-famous shot as the wave smashed against the tower. Théodore Malgorn, suddenly realising that a giant wave was about to engulf the structure, rushed back inside just in time to safe his life.
